DocVerita Privacy Policy

This describes how DocVerita currently handles your information. Some sections are still being finalized (for example, our exact governing jurisdiction) — if anything here is unclear, contact us at docverita@outlook.com.

1. Who we are

DocVerita ("DocVerita," "we," "us," or "our") is a Chrome extension and hosted web service that checks AI-generated text against documents you provide, returning a verdict for each factual claim (Supported, Partially Supported, Ambiguous, Contradicted, or No Evidence Found). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information (retained). When you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we create an account record that includes:

We do not merge or link accounts across identity providers automatically — signing in with Google and signing in with Microsoft using the same email address creates two separate accounts.

2.2 The AI-generated text and documents you submit (ephemeral). The pasted or uploaded text you're checking, the source documents you upload to check it against, the claims extracted from that text, and the verdicts we return are not stored in our database. They exist only in server memory for the duration of your active session, and are automatically and permanently erased after 60 minutes of inactivity (or sooner, if you clear them yourself).

Processing of your text and documents is fully ephemeral, without exception: even our internal diagnostic logging (used to catch and investigate rare failures in our AI provider's responses) never writes the actual text of your claims, quotes, or documents to disk. That diagnostic path records only non-reversible structural facts — a cryptographic hash, a length, and which internal check failed — enough for us to notice and debug a recurring failure pattern, but never enough to reconstruct or read what you submitted.

2.3 Technical and usage information. We process your IP address to protect the service from abuse — specifically, to detect and temporarily block repeated failed sign-in attempts. This information is held in server memory for a limited window (no longer than 24 hours of inactivity from that address) and also appears in our hosting provider's standard operational logs.

We do not use cookies, browser fingerprinting, or any third-party analytics or advertising trackers of any kind, in the extension or on our backend.

3. How we use your information

We do not use the content of your documents or pasted text to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's.

4. Third parties we share information with

We use the following service providers ("sub-processors") to operate DocVerita. Each receives only the specific information described below.

ProviderWhat they receivePurpose
Anthropic (Claude)The full text of the claims you're checking, and relevant excerpts from your uploaded source documentsExtracting claims and classifying whether they're supported by your documents
Voyage AIThe full text of your document excerpts and claimsGenerating the embeddings used to find the most relevant passages in your documents
StripeYour email address, an internal account identifier, and your selected planProcessing subscription payments and billing
Google / MicrosoftAn access token you provide at sign-inVerifying your identity — we never receive your password

Where your data goes, layer by layer

To answer plainly what happens to your data — rather than leaving you to piece it together from the table above — your content passes through three layers. Here is what happens at each one:

  1. DocVerita's own servers. Document content, extracted claims, and verdicts are never persisted beyond your active session — they are automatically and irreversibly erased after a period of inactivity (see 2.2 above). Only your account and subscription data (email, identity-provider ID, billing status) is retained, and only for as long as your account exists — fully removable at any time via self-service account deletion (see Section 6).
  2. Anthropic (Claude). Receives the claim text and relevant document excerpts needed to extract claims and classify whether they're supported. Per Anthropic's published Commercial Terms of Service, which govern DocVerita's use of their API, this content is not used to train their models.
  3. Voyage AI. Receives document and claim text to generate the embeddings used for retrieval. Our account is opted out of Voyage's model-training license: content submitted since that opt-out took effect is not used for training and is deleted immediately after processing. Two notes on this: the opt-out is not retroactive to anything submitted before it took effect, and Voyage separately collects standard operational/usage metadata about API calls (distinct from the actual content itself) per their own terms.

We do not sell your information to anyone, for any purpose.

5. Data retention

6. Your rights and choices

Deleting your account. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the extension (Account Help → "Cancel & Delete My Account"). Deletion is immediate and irreversible: it removes your account record, all billing/subscription identifiers, and your usage data from DocVerita's servers, permanently, and it immediately cancels any active paid subscription so billing stops right away — not at the end of your current billing period. If you've used a free trial, the only thing that persists is a one-way cryptographic hash of your identity-provider ID, retained solely to prevent that same identity from claiming another free trial by recreating the account — this hash cannot be reversed to recover your identity, email, or any other information about you, and is not linked to any other data we hold (see Section 5). If you never started a free trial, nothing persists at all. Nothing else about your account persists on our servers afterward, in either case. If you'd rather have us do this for you, or run into an issue with the in-app control, you can also email docverita@outlook.com.

Changing your plan. You can switch plans at any time from within the extension (Account Help → "Change Plan"). Moving to a higher-priced plan takes effect immediately, with your payment method charged a prorated amount for the difference. Moving to a lower-priced plan takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep your current plan's limits until then, and are not charged differently until the new period starts. To cancel your subscription entirely while keeping your account and its data, contact us at docverita@outlook.com — this narrower option isn't yet available as a self-service control.

Accessing your data. Since document content is never stored, there is nothing to request beyond your account record itself, which we can provide on request.

7. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the extension, our servers, and every third-party service we use. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

DocVerita is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify active users.
